Celebrating Cornisha H.

“You have to want something different to happen in your life. Until I came to Saint John’s, I didn’t know I had options. I’m not walking on eggshells anymore.”

Cornisha was afraid to leave – afraid she wouldn’t be able to take care of her two children on her own, and afraid she’d have no other option than to go back to the abusive relationship she endured. She felt trapped. Other programs she knew about only allowed a short stay, not enough time to reboot. Until she found Saint John’s.

“The people at Saint John’s really care about me and my family. They saw potential in me that I couldn’t see in myself. Now, I know I’m awesome!”

Cornisha has earned her GED, she is a graduate of Saint John’s Employment Training Program and she’s employed full time as a Client Services Representative at Research America. She credits Saint John’s for showing her the importance of structure, of peer support and of teamwork. She now depends on nobody but herself, and her kids can focus on being kids.
