A Sacramento nonprofit that supports women and children. Through structured programs, comprehensive services, and unwavering support, we empower our women and children to build self-sufficiency and create lasting change for their families.
Our Mission
Saint John’s Program for Real Change provides a safe space for women and children to heal and develop the skills necessary to transform their lives.
Our Vision
To end the generational cycle of trauma and homelessness.
Who We Are
Founded in 1985, Saint John’s has been a beacon of hope for women in the Sacramento region for over 40 years. What began as an emergency shelter has grown into a comprehensive program offering housing, behavioral health services, workforce training, and family services, all in one place. We believe that every woman has the potential to rewrite their story, and we are committed to providing the structure, resources, guidance, and community needed to make that possible.

Breaking the Cycle

Women experiencing homelessness are often navigating more than just a housing crisis. Trauma, domestic violence, addiction, and economic instability create a cycle that can affect families for generations. Without the right support, these challenges compound, making stability increasingly difficult to achieve.
At Saint John’s Program for Real Change, we believe lasting transformation happens when women and their children are surrounded by a community that addresses the whole person: housing, wellness, employment, and emotional healing.
Saint John’s interrupts this cycle by providing a safe place for women and children to heal while gaining the tools needed to rebuild their lives. Through trauma-informed care, job training, behavioral health support, and housing stability, women are empowered to create new futures for themselves and their children.
