The other day I heard a familiar voice in our reception area. Going out to see who it was, I was thrilled to find a dear friend and her adorable children. She explained they had come to fulfill one of our “needs list” items, and had a dozen brand new kids backpacks, stuffed with school supplies, to donate to our mission. It was a sight to behold! They were all super-cool designs and our children will be incredibly happy to start the year “styling” with their new backpacks. What this thoughtful mother delivered was more than backpacks though; she delivered something even more important and life-changing. She delivered a moment of perspective to her children, a chance for her children to ask questions, to be enlightened, and to gain empathy for those less fortunate. The gift of backpacks to our children was, of course, wonderful, the gift of meaning delivered to her children was equally crucial. Would you like to bring your children or grandchildren for a tour?
